How to Install Softaculous on Linux Dedicated Server? [Infographic]

Softaculous is an auto script installer with a collection of PHP and JavaScript based scripts. It includes 194 scripts and keeps adding one by one. Step 1: It might be possible that you will get the following error after the installation is complete.

Site error: the file /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/softaculous/enduser/main/functions.php requires the ionCube

PHP Loader to be installed by the site administrator.

To avoid this error, make sure you have enabled the ionCube Loader by floowing the below steps –

Go to WHM >> Server Configuration

Now select the Tweak Settings and enable the ionCube Loader before starting the installation.


Step 2: Now, login into your dedicated server using root.

Step 3: Through the Secure Shell (SSH) enter the commands shown below to download the softaculous software from their official site. Make sure the path you enter to download the softaculous addon is correct.

[[email protected] ~]# cd /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi
[[email protected] ~]# wget -N
[[email protected] ~]# chmod 755 addon_softaculous.php

Step 4: Once you are done with the above command, navigate to the WHM >> Plugins/Add-Ons >> Softaculous – Instant Installs. The below image will be displayed with the message “Congratulations, Softaculous was installed successfully”.
